Yeah, it can be a big and slow pain in the butt, but the locking facility is cool, if only from a peace-of-mind perspective.
Swing the handle around and stick it in park, then work away to your hearts content knowing that you won't slip an inch regardless of how much you're bouncing on it.
Only really useful if you need the lock feature and never can quite trust your tie-off knot remembering skills!

this thing just an overall pain in the butt and i've replaced its use in my ropped access kit by the gri-gri which petzl now has certified for industrial work. its only upside is the anti-panic which the gri-gri lacks.
