Wasabi 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: leadon451, 2006-12-22

excellent fit. love the moldable toes. i did have one of the pairs with faulty velcro, but my local gym swapped them out for free once the velcro began to quick sticking.

For the dude above: montrail had a faulty batch of velcro on their first production run of these shoes. send them back to them and they will send you a free pair of non-faulty velcro shoes.

These are my second pair of shoes. (Mojos, these, then Bandits). After 3 weeks - about 9 sessions - the velcro began to fail. After 5 weeks the velcro became almost completely useless. Also, the edging is very poor now, and it wasn't great to begin with, due to the disintegration of the rubber.

I’ll give these a two just because I like the fit. I’m hoping that if I get them resoled and add some snaps to the Velcro straps they will become useable.

GREAT SHOES! sweet color, comfortable even before you heat mold them then they fit like socks. more comfortable than my 5.10 coyotes if you can believe that.

I hate most shoes. It's pretty rare that I find shoes I don't hate. I don't even dislike these! They're actually pretty stellar shoes. The narrow shape is a good fit for my foot... no dead space around the heel, and that's saying a lot. The shoe does a PERFECT job of directing force/pressure to the toe, which makes them great for thin face but pretty painful for handcracks. I adore the three alternating velcro straps, because they make the shoe conform well to my arch, which is very valuable for anyone with high arches. And, to echo a previous review, they hurt like hell to stand on the ground in, but they feel great (super comfy!) when you're up on those tiny footholds.

To rehash: Wasabis are great for high arches and narrow heels. They are soft, allowing a lot of sensitivity. Their greatest strength is the way the direct pressure to the toe, making them stellar face-climbing shoes. I would recommend Wasabis to anyone with feet shaped like mine who plans to wear them for bouldering and/or face climbing.

These shoes are just fantastic. The CTX really does improve the fit and comfort significantly. Performance reminiscent of my zlippers. This means great smearing, edging, and sensitivity.
