This is a well built product. At first I bought one because it was one single peice of metal, and I felt that structurly it was the strongest. The SBG is good at all it does, but not the best. I like the notches alot though, good friction.

I did not like the rigidity of this device. It seemed to bind against the biner in weird positions. It also did not seem to lock off as good as my ATC or Reverso.

I have been using this device for a couple years now and have grown into. I love the versatility (skinny through fatty ropes, low to high friction) and use it for everything but multi-pitch and guiding. The best thing is how quickly it goes from locked off to feeding thanks to the rigid stem, but the stem does have a down side. If you don't actively keep the device under control it has a tendency to get kinked into the bend of the belay biner. I don't even notice it anymore but everytime I hand it to someone who hasn't used it before they get get the thing torqued into the corner and it loads the biner in a very scary way.

I have used a variety of belays and this is the one I like best. I like the choice of friction slots. I feel very comfortable rappelling from this device and prefer my belayer use it when I am on lead. I prefer this device over the ATC model because it feeds the rope much more easily. I also like the device because it transitions from taking to feeding rope without binding.

Used a bug, sherif, and ATC. The ATC was pretty good but this allows more options for the smaller ropes (and heavier people). Happy on all the sizes I have tried, even the bigger static ropes.

Takes a little bit of getting use to (rigid stem) and kong crabs seem to work best with it.
