As the others have said, a bomber hex placement is generally very comforting, however it's not always so easy to place these hexes. And, I would argue, whether or not you trust cams more or less than hexes, cams are MUCH easier to place. On bumpy granite, for example, hexes do not mold to the shape of the crystals sticking out from the rock like cams do, thus they can be very unstable if not on smooth rock. They are probably much better in horizontal cracks than vertical, but I'll be honest, mine usually stay at the bottom of the climb, so they haven't gotten alot of use. These are a good set of protection to have, for anchors and whatnot, but I've never found them easy to place on lead.

These hexes are highly recommended. The slung dyneema ensures that your hex will not likely be pulled out of a placement. Wire hexes tend to pop out easier due to an upwards pull on the rope. The Rockcentric is also nice because they feel relatively light even in the bigger sizes. Are they bomber? Very. A solid Rockcentric placement gives me the confidence to crank harder moves above my gear. One downside that some leaders may find is that they are sometimes tricky to place due to the slung dyneema instead of a solid wire. You can't hold them on the end like a stopper and wip them into position. Instead, you place them by holding the hex itself. However, I have found that placement is never really a problem since they are sized to mid-to-large sized cracks. Finally, you can get some good camming action with these hexes as well due to their shape. Pretty cool overall.

These hexes are phenomenal. They seem to fall into placements and when loaded are bomber. When I bought my set of these, everyone told me that I would rarely use these if I had a good set of cams. Now I have a good set of cams and I still place alot of hexes. I trust these more than I trust my cam placements!

These hexes are my favorite pieces of gear on my small beginner rack. I am just learning about placing pro and found them extremely easy to place bomber protection. The design allows you to select a typically wrong sized gear from you rack but still manage to make it work by using its other sides. The dyneema slings make sure that you won't pull it out as you continue to climb up and over it, keeping it a sound placement. Great for protecting slightly flaring cracks. Very Versatile!
