Aid harness

Nice, comfy but the bulky tie in point hangs up in squeeze chimneys and the excess leg straps (which make it adjustable) are always flapping out.

Have been using this for 6 months now. Great harness indeed! I have used it for a couple walls and it was no problem at all. Infact, I use this harness for everything - even sport sometimes. This is definately a great all-rounder. Don't be suckered into the idea that a wall harness is only good for a wall. Tradding it is the king. My only complaint is that the leg loop webbing fluffs up abit quicker than I'd like. Problem is solved with a bit of cloth tape though.

I got the Shield because I found hanging belays in my BD very uncomfortable. The Shield has solved that - it's incredibly cush. The racking system is great as well with more options and alternatives than the standard harness. I was a little worried that free climbing in this monster would be problematic. But so far, I’ve had no problem on the moderate routes that I do. There are some problems with the harness – the buckle is really awful. It’s really difficult to thread and hard to get tight enough. You have to really work on it. Also the sizing is odd. According to the sizing chart, I should take a large, but I couldn’t get the Medium tight enough without modifying the standard setup – a solution recommended by Yates customer service. Customer service has been really helpful. I bought my harness used and CS has treated me just like I was the original owner.

My only complaint is that I couldn't sleep on my right side on the portaledge because the wallhammer holster was on that side. Otherwise, a great harness if you have to wear one for a couple of days or more!

I don't do big walls but I am a big man. 5'7'' and 260 lbs.
The guys and gals at Yates were so awsome.
I got to talk with the person that invented this harness and he gave me all the ins and outs and how it came about.
I will use no other. (even if I do lose weight)
This is by far the most confortable harness I've ever had. Like climbing in a hammock.
