By far not my favorite belay device. It does what you ask of it, but the thing jams too easy and locks down against the carabiner. With anything other than fat and fuzzy ropes it locks down hard and is a PITA. Variable friction depending how you rotate it is a plus, but it doesn't make very much of a difference. It is very cheap, and very light so it would be suitable for a backup perhaps. I think it is the same as the Rock Empire Tube Style belay device so the same comments apply here.

Why oh why do they only offer men's sizes in purple? Ok, so after a few days of climbing the performance difference made me happy enough to forget how feminine they look.
They stretch a lot, plan on it. Once they are broke in, they are extremely comfortable - as in I actually don't mind wearing them, even on extended times while belaying.

They start off with fairly good rubber and handle very well. I got about 9 months of regular use before I needed to resole mine. Yosemite bum resoled them with their rubber and it increased their performance a lot. I'm duly impressed. The downside is they are a bit pricey and aren't the stickiest rubber out there.

There are lighter ropes out there but it seems it is getting easier and easier to pick up a good deal on this rope and get a good 60M double dry rope for the price of a 50M non-dry. It handles fairly well (mine hasn't kinked as others noted).

Not much more to say about the product other than it works as advertised. Very simple to get a solid and equalized anchor.

Overall a decent kit. Pretty comprehensive. I got it on an REI special along with the Wilderness medicine book by Dr. Weiss which is really good. the carry pack is pretty good and it's reasonable weight. I added or subtract items to it depending on where I'm going and it seems to work out well.
