My partner is constantly telling me to fix my helmet as it slides back on my head all the time exposing my frontal lobes, making him nervous that a falling rock might render him left with a drooling belayer incapable of impulse control. but the helmet is easily adjustable, and once (if) you get it adjusted, it will usually stay put for a while. that said, there are days that I just can't get it adjusted properly no matter what I do short of duct taping it in place. I do really like the headlamp clips, they work well with my BD Gemini or Petzl Tikka and it also is pretty well ventilated. it was nearly free and will do until I feel like dropping the cash for the one I really want.* good ventilation (ie... heavy sweaters look no further!)

I admit I have pole vaulted across the glaciated headwall of a Mexican peak with my trekking poles. I would not suggest doing this. and my partners chubby niece once snapped one like a twig while trying her hand at the sport. the upside is MSR replaced my poles both times I sent them back, and never asked how they got to be in that condition. for more money, you could definitely get better or lighter poles, but then you would also feel worse about using yourself as a human catapult when they break.

Fury Tent 2-Person 4-Season (Manufacturer link) Average Rating = 4.00/5 Average Rating : 4.00/5

have you seen the ad with the firemen hosing down the tent at near point blank range? this is that tent. * adjustable stake loop has second backup loop and is big enough to accept anything you can cram through it...be it skis or a small pony

I think if I had to pay retail, I might have shopped around a bit more, but since I got such a good deal on it, it was worth the money. find it on sale and give it a try. and if you're like me... pray for those sweaty firemen to show up.

Rages get the job done. I am not a delicate tulip by any means, and the Rages step up to the challenge of my ungraceful, repititious hacking and hooking. they are tools that are perfect for people that climb often enough that they need real durability and functionality, but not so often that they can justify spending twice as much for the lightest and newest.

wiregate biners are incredible. period. the month after my partner cut the handle off his toothbrush, I bought us a mess of neutrino QD's cause I knew there had to be another way. Spectra dogbone is climber's best friend. put them together and you get the quickdraw people will be ogling at the crag. either because they're jealous they're so light and fancy or 'cause they think you're nuts to climb on such a lightweight getup. either way, WELL worth the money!! easy to use, easy to clip, easy to carry. mine have slept in my bed with me and travel comfortably in my pack next to the spade with the holes drilled out of it. that is all.
