After suffering hanging belays at EPC with a bargain basement harness, I upgraded to something more substantial. Haven't had a hanging belay yet, but I did use it to set a route in a gym and was very comfy hanging for an hour. I love the 9, yes NINE, gear loops on this, which organizes gear on my harness better than a pegboard in a garage! Double buckles keeps gear and quickdraws centered. Not overly bulky for sport climbs either.

A very comfortable pack for multipitch climbing. Stays high on the back and out of the way of gear and chalk bag. Collapsability is very useful, but you cannot cinch the pack down tight, I'd rather have a 25 liter size pack with compression straps than the zipper compressability that this pack features. Rope compression straps were very useful in carrying the rope. Gear loops on chest were more useful than I thought they would be. Hydration port is tight, and the fabric could be more water resistant. Mine didn't come with an aluminum stay, but there is a sleave for one. I made a stay out of some old mini-blinds and it carried much better when stuffed. Would prefer either a stretch pocket on front or more loops to attach shock cord. It's a very climbing-specific pack, and I haven't used it for anything else. But what it does, it does really, really well!

Disclosure: I received a free device for testing this product to replace a recently lost ATC.

This device is a bit more on the 'catch' side of belay devices, and less on the 'feed' side. I have used this device for top rope and sport lead belaying and although I was at first frustrated by its eagerness to grip the rope, I admit that it has grown on me. Ropes smaller than 10.5mm will allow a more trouble free feeding.

As for the comment by dr_monkey (below) about it going from lock-off to Feeeeeed! very abrubtly, I would also agree. Although I have worked around this for lowering by lifting the device with my non-brake hand. I suspect this might pose a larger problem on rappel, and adding another biner might help with that (I haven't tested rappel yet).

Edited: I ended up buying an ATC to replace this POS. Finally got too fed up with feeding rope with it. That should tell you all you need to know about whether to buy this, or the original ATC.
