Faulty Sleeve 1 out of 5 stars

The gym where I work uses these exclusively. There is an internal stop that prevents the sleeve from moving any farther once it has made it to the locked position. After repeated use, the stop fails and the sleeve continues to screw upwards. After a while it will go far enough to expose the threads on the gate, allowing ing them to be damaged. If you keep using it, the stop becomes worn enough that you can screw the sleeve off the carabiner entirely. Metolius replaced our carabiners when this happened. The second batch failed exactly the same way.

Solid folding knife. It's nice that you can clip it to a full sized carabiner. It's a tad heavy for carrying on my harness unless I expect to need it, and its all metal construction makes it painful to grab in the cold, but those are small complaints.

All in all a great harness, I only have a few minor complaints. Not the most comfortable thing for long hanging belays. After seven hours on a face I thought I had done permanant damage to my kidneys. Lack of a good chalk bag loop is frustrating. The fact that two sizes fit all means that there is a ton of extra webbing/elastic if you aren't on the bigger side for that size. The gear loops bunch stuff forward which is a hastle for anything but guick draws, and I find that the notch on non-keylocking carabiners can get hung up in the little hole in the gear loop intended for keeper cords which is a hastle on strenuous clips. Other than that, it is sweet.

I bought a set of six because I needed some draws and metolius was the only company that sold sets (allowing me to squeeze the most out of my 20% discount on one purchase at REI). No complaints, although it's not the lightest carabiner on the market, it does exactly what it's supposed to.
