techno - a mythos-miura hybrid 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: tradclmbr, 2008-08-13

I've been struggling with finding the right shoe for sometime. arthritis in my left big toe prevents using downturned shoes such as the miura which I find otherwise superb for the type of climbing I do (granite/cracks). Mythos have been my long time preference due to flat fit, but never felt as precise as the miura. I had concluded that this was a neccesary trade-off...........that is, until now. The techno are a perfect blend of miura precision and mythos comfort (e.g. flat-ness). When on familiar small footholds it literally feels like the hold has near doubled in size. For a shoe that looks, feels and by all visual inspection is so simple, it performs in ways that no other shoe Ive tried has. Absolutely no regrets in buying these and only hope they stay in the market for years to come

Belay master 4 out of 5 stars

Generally nice to have that extra margin of security. I also like it for keeping a grigri from cross-loading while short-fixing ( I turn it around so gri gri is clipped to the small end. With all that said, I often find myself removing the plastic piece and putting in my pocket due to the inconvenience of dealing with it when putting someone on belay. I probrably should just add a little tether so I can snap it off and on.....in fact I think I will!

definately impressed. I used to love the cobras, wear mythos for most climbing (many many pairs) have had many pairs of miura and even a pair of Mamba (okay but wide for LS) Vipers are a nice blend performance with out the severe down turn. I wish the cuff on top (interesting design) were a little tighter for my narrow foot, but this is minor and I think it will be more than sufficiently tight for most (and not subject to stretching without retracting

watch for rust on chin strap rivets 2 out of 5 stars

Review by: tradclmbr, 2006-12-24

Ive replaced (free) this helmet 4 times due to rusted out rivets connecting the chinstrap to the helmet (in the back). I liked the way this helmet wore so I put up with it, but finally I just switched out for a Petzl Elios. Cant believe they havent fixed this after so many years
