Just For You...

Just For You...

I post these killer slackline shots, of people are doing sick tricks on low lines, just so they can end up as a 4.35 in the photo gallery. This one's just for all you player haters out there... One of the smoothest walkers around, Larry Harpe goes to his kneez, on an 11/16" slackline. photo:NFC

Yawn. Sorry, but what do you expect from photos taken in playgrounds?

Actually, it's a campground. I guess shakylegs and slacklining don't mix.

Oh! It's a *campground.* Well, that changes things.
No, wait, it doesn't.
It's a boring picture that doesn't highlight the dude's skill, any movement, any sense of the skill needed. The subject is in the middle of the frame, etc. It's boring.
So, you may think they're "killer," but they're not.

Shakylegs-- I'm sure that this picture is not nearly as interesting as the one you posted of your CAT, but if you did have a clue about the sport of slackline, you would realize that this picture IS an action shot and does, in fact, show a considerable amount of skill on "the dude's" part. With the pathetic submissions you have to the photo gallery, I'm supprised that you find this picture so boring. I think the fact that you have no sense of the skill needed to perform this trick is largely due to your own ignorance, and not the quality of the photo.

Can't help but love the safety orange and cowboy hat. Is that a U-roll it that I spy?

"doesn't highlight the dude's skill, any movement, any sense of the skill needed."
You see, I am pointing out that there is a lot of skill involved, but the picture doesn't highlight that. You've got other photos here that are way better than this.
And my cat? She's a cutie, ain't she?

not sure i agree dude...the picture shows Larry going down on his knee on a slackline. at least thats what i see. going down on ones knee on a slackline invloves skill. therefore, a picture of larry, going down on his knee, on a slackline, shows the skill. does it not? - heh whatever not taking sides here - nice pic turtle - rock on

Definately a lot of skill here, but man, it's just hard to get a slacklining picture that provokes a "WOAH! THAT IS AN AWESOME PICTURE!" response. I haven't been able to get a REALLY good slacklining picture yet, and I've tried everything I can think of. I guess slacking would be a good reason to advocate video clips on rc.com. As far as this pic goes, it's better than a lot I've seen (all of my own included), but it's nothing stellar.

Hey shaky legs have you tryed to slackline? Its hard enough forme even to walk 25' much less try to get on one knee , I even have a slackline set up in my backyard. I do agree with coldclimb though, its hard to get a slacklining picture worth the rating of a "10"

Damn, folks, can you make sense of sentences? I'm not dissing the slackliner, I'm just saying the photo isn't stellar. It's shot straight-on, the subject is in the center of the photo, there's not semblance of action. Is this still too complicated to understand?
If theturtle boasts about posting "killer slackline shots," then I have this weird belief that maybe, just maybe, the photo will live up to the claim. Silly me.

i'm going to have to second the "yawn." yes, i slackline, but "killer" this photo isn't. yeah, the guy has lots of skill and that is evident but you can have a bad pic of a guy climbing 5.15, right? Killer moves does not equal killer pictures.

theturtle: have you maybe thought about disabling the vote option for your photos?

Wow, Ok now I'm starting to get bored. All these wannabe photo critics must not understand the word "killer". In this case it means: better than 95% of all the slackline photos posted on Rc.com. If you look, there is not one other photo of someone performing this trick, most photos are of people either falling off the line or working it for the first time. While I admit this pic is no "10" it is by no means boring, you just have to know something about Slackline. I do accept mrtristian's criticisim, at least he has some photos posted and they are of climbing, so he knows how hard it is to take a good shot. I don't care what people who don't slackline think of this pic, they can all vote it a "1", I have plenty more shots to post, so get used to it.

The best part of this picture is the focus of "the dude". Go Larry.
