Stunt Men
The stunt crew for the 1980 PBS movie "The King of America," produced by the Center For Television in the Humanities.
Far left is yours truly, Loran Smith, back in the days when I could have used a sammich. Third from left is Bob Rotert, who put up many demanding routes in the Southeast and New England. Fourth from left is stunt coordinator Dave Kappas, and far left is another climber of note, Bill Feiges.
I was paid $100 per day for my efforts, unlimited catered food on set, plus was allowed to stay overnights in the prop room of the local hotel with the bathtub overflowing with ice, beer, and you name it...
Not a bad gig for a dirtbag climber in the '80s.
