Poincenot & Fitzroy

We arrived at Rio Blanco base camp in February 2000 to glorious weather. Being new to Patagonia we did not take advantage of it and the weather deteriorated over the next three weeks. This was a shot from Lago de Los Tres on our second day. The best view we got. By the end of the week it was snowing and getting colder. Two days after this a Spanish climber was cleaning a route on Fitzroy and abseiled off his ropes falling around 200 feet. He survived with a broken leg and bruises !
