All geared up and ready to climb at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (Arkansas) on a nice winter day (January 2005).
Photo by me. B&W original, not a color conversion. Scanned on a cheapo Canon scanner. Nikon FG, Sigma 35-70mm/2.8, TMAX 400.
BTW this was my first B&W print so feedback is always welcome.

Corpse with a primo placement of a #5 slung tortise. If you don't place them perfectly this pro is really prone to walking.

I fell after almost clipping the rope in the anchor. I fell straight to the bolt second from the last. There is a sweet jug to the right of the anchor, a bit above the anchor. I did not know this and was trying to clip in while I was under it.

This was the last route I could pull on our third day at HCR. After this climb I felt as if someone is yanking my arms off my torso. Sweet climb with a nice undercling move after the 2nd to last bolt.

Little Mikey took this picture of Squid at an unknown boulder on HCR. The problem went unfinished, and had a muddy landing.

This was my son and my first trip to Arkansas. I had lead this earlier, top roped him, now I'm on way back up to clean our gear.

jeff's girlfriend laura climbing. she and i climbed together quite a bit that day, since we were about on the same skill level. josh and jeff being a few steps ahead of us, particularly jeff. he was really knowledgible and a lot more of a technical climber.

jeff, being a more avid climber than the rest of us, spent most of the day climbing trad routes while we sport climbed. i'm thinking in about a year i'll start heading in that direction. i want to get a lot more comfortable on sport routes first.

i met josh at petra rock gym in the early part of the summer or late spring. randomly exchanged numbers to go climbing. a while later, he called out of the blue and invited me along with him and his friends. they were all quite a bit younger than me, but climbing seems to be a fairly universal and ageless sport. i regularly climb with people half my age at the gym. pretty cool, really.

mzem919 leading Sour Girl at HCR. Third run up this route, second redpoint. I love the pockets on this, two finger and bigger. The roof adds an awesome ending to this climb. Photo by kappydane.

Super juggy route, but it still gave me the Elvis leg shake lead climbing for the first time. Rob is cleaning up after me.
Note: None of us had ever led before AND none of us died.

Local Hebrew gets pretty nasty right around here. You have to get a high foot so you can pull over the ledge to the clip above. It's a cool move because you can't see the clip till you're up and over.

[Photo by TJ] Trace the pink rope for the line up Orange Crush (5.9). This is one of the longest routes in HCR. You'll need a 60m rope for this one.

[Photo by Kappydane] The crack I'm climbing is "Tales of Ribaldry (5.8)", a fun offwidth/slab climb. The blue rope to the left is on "Gimp & Wheezer (5.9)".
