Alapocas IceICE, in Delaware! Holy mackeral. During a long cold snap, the seeping wall in the far back of Alapocas formed some nice ice. Shawn Davis, Conrad Schaefer, and Ed Rhine toproped a couple different lines, including some thin ice, and dry tooling off to the right in the shade. This took place in the late 90's while we were all University of Delaware students.

A different DayIce at the large back wall in Alapocas Woods. On this day the ice wasn't as good as it was on other days. You can see how the lines change depending on the longevity of the coldsnap and moisture seeping from the walls.

Jimmy Walker Dyno and OthersHere is a pic of the jimmy walker dyno and other problems on the same rock. The red line is the jimmy walker dyno itself. The other markings are problems but I don't know any names for them. The green and yellow lines are probably V0/V1 and the teal is probably 3/4. Other lines can certainly be done by mixing these lines. This boulder is right down by the water

Rope banBring some pads or trust your spotter. This is the "thank god for this hold" portion of the climb.

Rope BanIf they ban the ropes you just use pads. Nice face climbing... for Delaware.

Jungle WarfareThis is a problem on the magic carpet boulder. Jungle Warfare starts here and goes out to the right a little then over the top, where when you look down it looks as though your spotter and pad have disappeared, scary.

Bouldering DelawareA shot of me on one of the smaller boulders at Alapocas in Delaware. After that heel hook you have to twist your right leg in and reach for a crimper. A nice wet day in March...
