Sunshine Valley, Banff

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Sunshine Valley, Banff

One of first loves is skiing and it's what lead me to climbing, so I thought I'd share a picture of me looking extra happy on top of Sunshine Valley this March just before heading down the slopes.

Here's another lovely view. It's also on Sunshine Valley in March. There's nothing like snow and sun to make my day :)

The cotton party goes alpine climbing

Average Rating = 3.00/5 The cotton party goes alpine climbing

Who says you need much gear to climb Mt. Assiniboine? Paul and Kris in mostly cotton (no or on the way lost rain coat), running shoes with ONE! glove each, long sling(harness), locking biner, helmet and alpine axe. I had the half rope and a set of nuts. Lucky us, we had perfect summer conditions on the ridge.

Beautiful Mt. Assiniboine

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Beautiful Mt. Assiniboine

The Canadian Matterhorn from the bivi hut above Lake Magog. The North Ridge II 5.5 to the left looks kinda scary but really isnīt if the conditions are right. What a fabulous bunch of climbers we met in the Hind Hut.

Window of opportunity

Average Rating = 3.52/5 Window of opportunity

Snapped this shot while hiking 120km through the Assiniboine Provincial Park, BC/Alberta in July 1998. That night it hailed 15cm, and I woke up in my bivy just a little on the cold side.

Climbers at the Hind Hut, Mt. Assiniboine, Canada

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Climbers at the Hind Hut, Mt. Assiniboine, Canada

Frank takes a picture of his hut mates at the Hind Hut discussing their upcomming climb of Mt Assiniboine, "Canada's Matterhorn" July 30, 2001. Frank Summitted with his guide Rod Gibbons on July 31, 2001 @ 8:30am. We climbed 5.6 rock (dry good conditions) in crampons the whole way because the mountain was covered in ice and snow. Climb was beautiful!!

Lunch Spot on Bryant Creek

Average Rating = 4.50/5 Lunch Spot on Bryant Creek

We stopped for lunch here on our way out from the Bryant Creek Shelter in early January 2002. This picture is not actually in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park, but it is on one of the most popular hiking approaches into the park.

Cone Mountain on Bryant Creek Approach

Average Rating = 3.67/5 Cone Mountain on Bryant Creek Approach

Cone Mountain taken in Late December 2001. Looks like there might be some good routes up there, check out bivouac.com for info on possible routes. Cone Mountain is also the start/end of a nice looking ridge traverse.
