Weekend traffic: 'Turkey', 'Secretary', and 'Arms Control' in use. 'Cow Patty' to the right was busy, too. See more at www.ClimbPilotNC.us

'Man Overboard' has three bolts. Bill W. is clipping in the rope at the second bolt.

'Spindrift' is the route given new rim anchors uphill from 'Hawaii 5-O'. The overhang start is not easy, but somewhat easier than 'Hawaii'. The wall is similar, with more obvious grips but nothing easy about it.

'Spindrift' is the route given new rim anchors uphill from 'Hawaii 5-O'. The upper part is more of no easy part.

'Howdy Dudette' is the chimney and highly varied faces from the other set of anchors back from 'Howdy Dude', often used as a starter route. Anthony and Adam had started on the sharp column in front, so I did too. Also down-climbed. Big thrill for me at the time, hoping for more to follow.

This climb is the face beside '8-Ball' and is started from its corner (which is a waste of time).

The bad news is: she's five years old, and made it to the top.
The good news is: she did not lead it, and did have a slip or two.

Phil did get to the top, his own way.

First time on this route for Kevin was an exploration. The obvious crack to reach the first ledge does not work.

Properly rigged for the half-route option.

This is the right end of the 'Any Major Dude' wall, as the Kelley guide said was 'Minor Dude'. But the left end of the wall may be that route. This climb was rigged from the 'Honeypot' notch, which makes a poor swing for the top overhang. Jose and Cyrus liked it a lot, and both were able to finish.

When it has rained over a long period, the water will seep down and leak under the roof. In this photo, almost the entire Middle Wall was a sheet of glistening water.

David has set and clipped in the second bolt, figuring out how to approach the third bolt and then the overhang crux. The first piton is still in place, still solid. The distance from the first bolt to the second is short, meaning no ground-fall potential, even with a wonderfully low first bolt.

Getting to the fourth clip takes a lot, and getting past the ledge takes all you can muster. So, take a break.

This is the hardest line on the nose, going straight up to the new anchors.
