Hillary in a desperate moment of frustration decides it may be easier to lay back this damn crack. She quickly realized the folly and went back to jamming.

I was able to get several decent shots of Hillary thrashing, errr...climbing on Loose Lips (5.10d). I had fixed a rappel line into the canyon and ascended it as she climbed. Here's a few of the highlights.

Jon leading Queenfolia, a nice, pumpy 5.10b. Crux moves are at the brief overhanging flake that Jon is pulling up to. Poor feet for a couple of moves and then nice holds to the top.

**Route is not Paradise Lost** Jon belays Kelly at the top out of Raindance (5.10a). You should have heard the cussing, screaming, grunting, and moaning that was going on while she climbed this thing! I wasn't sure if she was climbing the route or passing kidney stones. ;-P This candid was snapped right as she topped out. You think she looks a little frustrated? Jon doesn't understand what all the fuss was about. Sandbagger.

This is a picture of what I believe is the Grey Wall at Larrabee State Park. It shows the right side, which is ~30 ft of near-vertical sandstone slab, low-to-mid fifth class.

Hillary (Climbsomething) took this up at Priest Draw. Maybe the one and only time I have ever gone bouldering, and it may never happen again. Can't remember the name of it, but the problem is pretty much a one-move wonder. Grab the top of the Memorial Sign (bolted on to the rock), paste feet high, and yard away. Hey, if I can launch my fat ass up to that bucket, anyone can.

Ran into Pete after he had humped a load of gear in his exploded pig back to the Meadow after his solo of Lost in America. Hehe. Damn, Pete. Maybe something a little more candid next time. You'd been practicing that pose, hadn't you?

Took this just before turning the roof on the second pitch. The fun part was the roof. The crappy part was the 5.7 ledge above the roof.

Took this when hiking up to Zodiac. Not sure who it was or what route it was on. Somewhere in the area of PO or Dawn Wall. Sea of Dreams, maybe? Regardless, it was one of my better shots with the crappy disposable camera.

After waiting hours on Friday to get on the "no show" waiting list, Hillary's number came up just in time to register before the contest started. Hey, chick -- need a cup of coffee?
