This is Mt. Kenya from the Sirimon Route, showing the Standard Route.

This shows the traverse across the Lewis Glacier that is required to get to the base of climbing Nelion by the Normal Route

This was taken from the lake next to Minto's Hut on the Chogoria Route. Nelion and Batian summits are visible (Nelion appears slightly taller than Batian from this view).

This shows one of the most common plants high up on Mt. Kenya, Lobelias. This shows some of the other smaller peaks on the mountan - the summits are just out of the picture to the right. This is 2 km from Minto's Hut towards Austrian Hut on Chogoria Route.

This shows the Normal Route up Nelion's southeast face. The ridge is highlighted with the morning shadows, and Ballie's Bivvy is visible as a white speck just below this ridge. The route starts close to where the shadow line crosses the end of the scree at the base of the wall. The route then goes up to the bivvy, crosses over the ridge and then up to the top.

This is a view of Mt. Kenya from the first day of hiking on the Chogoria Route. It's too far away to see the Nelion and Batian summits yet.
