Adam Moneypenny hugs the arete as he goes for the crux clip on Kentucky Pinstripe (5.10a) in the Red River Gorge. This climb has a low balance crux followed by some great edging and a spectacular view from the anchors! [Olympus Digital]

Got up early one morning to take pictures of the sunrise over Joshua Tree. We were camped at Jumbo Rocks and my friend Adam Moneypenny snapped this picture of me snapping pictures of the amazing color show over the desert. rrradam tells me the sunsets are better. That's tough to believe!

After a storm, the mountains are at their most beautiful. Here, a late afternoon storm moves away from the Cirque of Towers and sun strikes Warbonnet Peak.

I took this picture during the first ever RC.com get together while everyone else was hiking out to do Gunsmoke, I got sidetracked by the amazing light settling on the rocks and Joshua trees.

Michael Tryon sinks a fist jam on the first section of Roadside Attraction (5.7) in the Red River Gorge. Most climbers walk right past this to go climb the 5.10 and up clip-ups, missing one of the best moderate climbs anywhere!

I am getting ready for the mental crux, an unprotected 5.2 crawl on a sloping ledge. One of, if not the best multi-pitch moderate in the Red River Gorge. Photo by Michael Tryon with Fuji Provia 100f

Took a trip to climb in the cirque in August of 2001. I carried in nearly 80 pounds of stuff for 7 days in. I've since converted to ultralight backpacking btw. Luckily as the saying goes, alpine climbers have short memories, and I'd gladly hike the 11 mile approach again to climb more routes there. Pingora was all we did, but it well worth it!

An unknown climber looking around for holds that aren't there on the Stone Mt. Simulator, a 25' slab boulder problem below the face of Stone Mountain. There is some good bouldering down at the base if you aren't into run-out friction climbing... or even if you are! I have no idea what this "problem" is rated, as it's all about your feet and not letting your head get to you. It took me 4 tries to commit to going for the top! - Took this picture with an Olympus Digital Camera

I took this photo with my digi-cam of my friend Steven using his head for friction while he gets set to crank/mantle. This was my first bolted FA and I am quite proud of it. It follows a dark brown waterstreak for 60 feet to the top of the wall. It is at the In-Between crag, where the Red is starting to show that it's not just about steep pocketed sport routes.

Rocktoberfest is an annual fundraising and awareness event for the Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition. This year we hosted the Access Funds fall board meeting, many clinics, debuted a new video, held a wacky gear auction, and held this dyno comp! It was a great time at the Red!
