I took this photo of my friend Jesse climbing on Even Steven 5.11 at Index, WA. The crux of this route is comprised of ten or so feet of thin fingerlocks; the climber must also contemplate the huge granite pinnacle that lies at the base of the crack. Technical specs: Velvia 50 pushed two stops; focal length 100mm; shot with 80-200 2.8 Nikkor lens.

This is a self portrait taken last fall during yet another trip to the great ditch; unfortunately, it was the wettest weather in recorded Califoria history, and our caravan of dirtbags were forced on a many an occasion to migrate to the sheltered arms of Jailhouse.
