Adan Martinez climbing the first pitch on Dark Star. The first pitch is the technical crux -- thin 5.10b first thing in the morning. Up above is an unprotected 5.8 chimney but in between there's a lot of low fifth class and fourth class. But it is a lot of terrain to cover in a day.

Dark Star is similar Sun Ribbon Arete, another route on Temple Crag. Both routes have short crux sections with long sections of low fith class and fourth class climbing.

A view of Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Mt. Everest region. Sadly, western conveniences and culture have crept in and overrun this mountain community.

Some distance beneath the surface of this reservoir lies Hetch Hetchy Valley, the "other" Yosemite Valley. You can help pull the plug on this by going to www.hetchhetchy.org and offering your support.
"Dam Hetch Hetchy! As well dam for water-tanks the people's cathedrals and churches, for no holier temple has ever been consecrated by the heart of man." - John Muir
