This last pitch of Whodunit/ The Consolation was so sweet, I had to take a picture...while on lead. The Consolation finishes on the last pitch of Whodunit; they are both fantastic routes. Consolation deserves just as many stars!

Top O' Longs Peak

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Top O' Longs Peak

After all the hype I'd heard about the Long's Peak trail, I didn't think I would be impressed. "If so many people do it, it can't be that tough", I thought. On the contrary, the whole trip was thrilling. The second half turned out to be more of a climb than a hike...a climb with tremendous exposure to boot. It was a long but unforgettable day. This is a picure of my brothers, and my cousin, and I. I took the picture with the help of a rock serving as a tripod.

Aaron climbing the Rubicon

Average Rating = 1.00/5 Aaron climbing the Rubicon

Aaron breezed on up Rubicon after Jon did a nice job leading this "sideways Z" shaped line. This route was a little over my head, but we did a multitude of great ones that weekend.

The Rubicon

Average Rating = 2.00/5 The Rubicon

Here's a shot of the entire Rubicon formation. It's a short walk from the split rock parking area, and also on the way to Isles in the Sky. We did Bird of Fire there, which became one of my favorite routes that day. Aaron is right in the middle of the bulge, probably the end of the crux.

Marching to battle with Sheep's Head

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Marching to battle with Sheep's Head

Day after new years, 04; after a long drive from San Diego and a long search for my climbing partners who are from Arizona, we headed up to Sheeps head, which is the biggest dome on the skyline, to do Peacemaker. The dome has several high quality, bolted, 5-7 pitch routes. This exciting, all day, multipitch adventure was well worth the trip. Much thanks to Aaron for leading 3 of us up.

Middle of San Diego?

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Middle of San Diego?

I took this shot of my brother Adam on Easy Rider, a cool route we've done many times. Mission Gorge is a pretty cool spot; it's hard to tell there are millions of people nearby.

San Bernardinos shortly after the october '03 fires

Average Rating = 3.00/5 San Bernardinos shortly after the october '03 fires

My bro Adam took this picture of me on our approach to Scot Rock, which is near the town of Big Bear. There obviously wasn't much left at all here, but the landscape still looks captivating.

Jon is about to leap for the the top of Saturday Night Live. This is a cool dyno problem right by the Real Hidden Valley parking lot in Joshua Tree.

No Mystery Here

Average Rating = 0.00/5 No Mystery Here

I spent 10 days in RMNP this summer and took my younger bros to the Monastary while we were out there to do some sport climbing. One of them was to worn out from the savage approach to do any climbing, but my brother Corey cleaned this 135' 5.7, as his first outdoor climb. Pretty impressive I think. This photo was taken by him, of me leading it. I would have hated to fall on that stuff.

Thunderbird Wall

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Thunderbird Wall

Another shot of me leading Bird of Prey. Holcomb valley has loads of great sport routes, of moderate difficulties, and they're pretty closely bolted. My brother Adam got some good shots by hanging out from the anchors at the top and using his supremely high quality Nikon F5. This image is a scan, of a print, from a slide, so a lot of quality was lost.

Savage

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Savage

My brother Corey heading up his first outdoor climb. He fell once, but made it to the top of this long, steep 5.7. Not bad at all, especially after that murderous approach. My other brother, Adam, took the shot I think.

Beautiful Finish

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Beautiful Finish

I'm belaying my good buddy Aaron on the last pitch of peacemaker; the sweetest, longest sport climb I've ever done. We had to walk down in the dark, but I think climbing during the exquisite last light is worth it. On my left is my bro, Adam.

Almost There

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Almost There

My buddy and I are almost finished with a long day climbing the White Maiden's walkway on Taquitz. It was my fist multi-pitch lead, and Aaron's first time following trad. Superb route, and a spectacular day.

Andy Knolla on Thunderbird wall

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Andy Knolla on Thunderbird wall

The benefit of having a party of three...one person to belay, and one to photograph. My bro shot this with his Nikon F5 while tied into the anchors. Location is Thunderbird wall in Holcomb Valley, Big Bear, CA.
