I was heading up the valley early one cold morning and came across this sight. I have not seen it again in 15 years.

Approaching the summit of the Zugspitze (2962m) in Germany. We left the cable car station on made our own way to the summit after nearly being wiped out by rockfall. The border between Germany and Austria runs along this ridge.

Andy Moss on Angle Fingers (E1 5a). Sandy Crag holds one of Northumberland's classic cracks, Sandy Crack (E2 5c). The crag is a sun trap and has superb rock and routes.

Just finished a days climbing in the Lake District (UK) and sat on the wall drinking a brew watching the sun go down. Not touched up. It really looked like this.

We popped up to the Lakes (UK) for a very cold weekend of ice bouldering. Found a few small pitches by following streams. This is the stream flowing out of Grisedale Tarn.

Popped up to the Lakes (UK) for a very cold weekend. We found a stream and followed it up some small pitches, along stream beds. The last short pitch we pulled over dropped us below a 40-50 foot icefall. This is John Terry, solo, in mid pitch viewed from the other side of the Gorge we had followed

This was the first real view we got of Poincenot and Fitz Roy back in 2000. We are still almost a 3/4 hour drive from El Chalten. Sharp peak just left of centre is Cerro Torre. Largest looking peak is Fitz Roy.

This is a few days after we arrived at Rio Blanco base camp way back in 2000. The wind steadily picked up and this shot shows the snow blowing off the backside off Fitz Roy which was very impressive to see 'in the flesh'.

Whilst waiting for a break in the weather we wandered down from Rio Blanco base camp to Lago Piedras Blancas for a bit of excercise. Amongst the huge granite boulders we found some short bolted routes. (Well there was one bolt in the top) This shows Lou Costello on an unknown route just having fun. After this we captured some ice from the lake for the Gin and Tonics back at base camp (:

We arrived at Rio Blanco base camp in February 2000 to glorious weather. Being new to Patagonia we did not take advantage of it and the weather deteriorated over the next three weeks. This was a shot from Lago de Los Tres on our second day. The best view we got. By the end of the week it was snowing and getting colder. Two days after this a Spanish climber was cleaning a route on Fitzroy and abseiled off his ropes falling around 200 feet. He survived with a broken leg and bruises !

In 1998 we were lucky enough to visit an unexplored area of Arctic Eastern Greenland called Rignys Bjerg. This was our third camp after three days of storm during which we resorted to reading the GPS manual. The cliffs in the background are a good three hours skiing away. We found it very difficult to estimate scale in Greenland leading to some long days skiing.

Back in 1998 we were lucky enough to be the first visitors to this part of Greenland (Rignys Bjerg). Just behing our first camp we noticed a superb snow gully. Like most things in Greenland we underestimated the size and ended up with a 10 pitch Grade 3 (Scottish). As we climbed we were watched by 2 Snow Falcons, hence the name.

Torre Piaz was our first rock climb in the Dolomites. We trekked over via the Santner Pass down to the Alberto hut. As a warm up we did Piaz and the exposure was mind-blowing. It is only a 60m route but we probably made 10 belays due to the exposure. From the 1 foot square summit we watched this group on Delago followed by a 50m free ab. We climbed Delago and it was a memorable route. 3-4 pitches on good rock, in the sun with superb views.

After being stormed off our first trip on the West Buttress, we retired to 'The Latitude' for a few beers and moved on to 'The Fairview' for few more. On the way back to the campsite by the river we were presented by this excellent view. (In case anybody knows him, the guy in the middle is John Evans.)

Looking down from our second peak, Copa Rohsyn, into the ice cwm.
Our camp is at left out of sight.
We were picked up three weeks later near the far, far peaks at the top right
