The new guidebook downrates this climb from 5.12a to 5.11 ++. What does 5.11++ mean? It's the universal symbol for SANDBAG! Anyway you cut it, this is one of the best there is...be prepared for the pump!

Beautiful rock and a nice crack make Thin Slice a classic 10a at City of Rocks, Idaho. The route is long and varried, with many good stances for placing gear. Many will consider this soft for the grade, when compared to crack routes in Little Cottonwood Canyon. But it is a great route, all the same. The route is shaded in the afternoon (thus the bleached out sky in the background).
