The alpine lake below Bugaboo Spire! We so wanted a chance to swim in this beautiful lake, but a long lasting wet winter meant that the ice was still around when we showed up in July !

This is a photo of me finishing up the 5th pitch on the NE ridge. I had a hard time 'keeping climbing' I just wanted to take in the views, but I knew there wasn't enough time in the day to take it ALL in !

Starting up the NE Ridge of Bugaboo Spire. The climbers on the snow give it a sense of scale. As good as it looks.

In our 1984 trip we hit the "classics", this picture captured the perfect weather, mountains as far as you could see. The Gendarme is amazing and the thought of doing this in 1916 is mind-boggling. The Kain Route is thoroughly enjoying even at 5.6, and something good to do before you descend it from the summit.

A fun and interesting climb up the N.E. Ridge of Bugaboo Spire must be completed by 2:00pm - or the rains will come and wash you away like they did to us - downclimbing the Kain route when wet is no fun!

The Kain Route serves as the descent for the Northeast Ridge of the Bugaboo Spire. We scouted the route out two days beforehand. Original photo is 4782x1391 pixels.

Lisa approaching Bug Spire early in the morning. You can see all the belay ledges plain as day on the ridge.

This is the gendarme on the Kain Route on Bugaboo Spire. There's a bolted station that you rappel from that takes you behind the gendarme. Do not attempt to rap down the west side of the gendarme
