this was the most inspiring climb i've ever done. i felt my flow for the first time. the holds were solid, it was challenging mentally and physically and IT FELT GOOD! a good way to end a death defying trip.

A cool March morning had us warming up on 5 Gallon Buckets

Spring Break doesn't get much better than this. Five Gallon Buckets in the morning and forty ounce bottles in the evening.

Having been in Indiana two nights before (where there was snow on the ground), I was delighted to lead a fun route in the SUN. The name of the route is Five Gallon Buckets for a reason! In any case, I got a sunburn on my back the first day out and slathered on the sunscreen after that.

This is Cam Charles climbing DaKine Corner, a 5.12b/c in the Churning Buttress Area at Smith Rock. It is an excellent route, ascending an outside corner on impeccable rock.

i believe this is viscious fish...what a cool looking route--one day i hope to be that strong.

This is a pic of me on my very first climb at Smith Rocks - a 10c called Morning Sky. Morning Sky is an extension of Gumby 10b. I didn't think the extension made it any harder. Sweet place.

I took this picture during a commercial shoot I directed for Metolius at Smith Rock in 2000. My company, Shockwave Pictures holds the copyright.
