Who would have thought...New River Gorge Ice? Jay Young (J_ung), this one dude cool dude Jacob and I spent a nice Saturday Ice Climbing at the Junkyard bouldering cave. It was my first time Ice Climbing...never before while climbing did someone seriously suggest "Just do a couple one arm pull-ups" after I failed to do a figure 4.

After hopping on this route, and fixing the rope, I got this sequence of Phil Hoffman (tradlodyte) cruising this awesome pitch. Man if you're out at Beauty, you gotta do this route! Nikon D200, 35mm F2.0. 81b filter, gray card white balance (without filter on lens)

A variation to Mig Squadron, I managed a sequence of the elegant, yet hardcore Ellisa Colley (sorry guys, she's taken). She totally walked the route, it was great watching her climb it!

What a great route! I managed to snap a sequence of Jay Young onsighting this exquisit route. The lighting was quite tough, but I underexposed 1 full stop and managed to get something "workable"

As I waited for j_ung to grab some cash for the day of water-bouldering, I decided to play around with the camera some. Hey Jay, maybe you should wash your mirror!

Though the actual climbing at Long Point (at least off the water) is not all that good, the "party trick" bat hang is really cool! Here a climber hands on the jugs setting up for the bat hang.

Another great line off the boat! With a boulder problem right off the water (which I cheated standing on the boat rail), and then really easy climbing to the top, I was loving every minute of it! I ended up jumping off the upper ledge. Using both the frame rate on my computer and a printed image (with an engineering scale), I estimated the plunge to be about 65 feet. Man....it was scary!

We rented a boat, this time from an old Mom and Pop business...ended up being about 190 dollars for the day. As we drove down, Jay spotted this killer line and cruised right up it.

Waaaaaay down the lake, Tim spotted this line and just had to try it. We all though it would be super hard, but it ended up being maybe 5.7 or 5.8 and super classic! A little scary though! Tim Keenan showing mad water bouldering skillz! And yes...those holds are as big as they look. Infact, they're bigger!

The first stop while water-bouldering is Long Point. Easy climbing leads to a sweet, but difficult traverse out to a really really easy bat hang. It's really cool! Here, I silloutted Christina Austin as she made her way across the traverse.

I manged to sneak this set of Tim Keenan on this exquisit water route. We were guessing 5.9 or 5.10 on this one. Man, its freeking good! High crux, then topout onto a ledge. From the ledge, you have to jump off! (Its about 30-40 feet!). Nikon D-200 with 18-70mm Zoom.

This is definitely my favorite route in the gorge. I managed to snap a few shots of my buddies doing this route. Lens is 50mm (F1.4). Also, I used a 81b skin tones filter as well as a circular polarizer, (trying to mediate some glare off the skin)
