The early evening sun was fading but lit up Half Dome perfectly

This year's wildflower season was particularly beautiful in Joshua Tree. This was taken on a lovely Sunday afternoon in mid April 2004.

The wildflower season in Joshua Tree was in full bloom in mid April. The Echo Cove area was going off big time.

I took this on Sunday en route back from Cookie Cliff as the end of the day's light was hitting Bridalveil Falls and Leaning Tower.

Nice April day in the desert, just came down off AA/Corkscrew Summit. Very fun up top of that thing.

No rain overnight, made for a nice day of climbing on Ancient Art. During the climb the skies opened and the sun came out, and stayed out for the rest of a beautiful Sunday in the Fishers.

In the DIRT down by the RIVER!!!! Yep, this is home for me when I go back to Moab. But what a gorgeous place to wake up and greet the day with the orange canyon walls on either side and the Colorado River rushing by. Makes for the greatest night's sleep ever falling asleep to the lazy river nearby.

So easy to look out and bask in the glory of Moab from atop the Owl.

At least I picked a pretty day for getting my butt spanked on Levitation 29. Life was good at this belay though.

Alex wore these La Sportiva's to free Zodiac. Mmmmm....Zodiac. Mmmmmm....Alex Huber. They're in private hands now but one day will end up in the Yosemite Climbing Museum once it's built.

Well, actually it was more like around Wonder Valley when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw the gogrgeous sunset going on behind us as we headed out. Next daylight we saw was in the Big Bend parking lot in Zion.

Nothing but air below while hanging out at the hanging belay of P5 of Moonlight Buttress. Paul was leading above, I was hanging out bringing up my rope and looked down to see the sublime air between me and the ground. That's my ascender in the lower left corner.

I love jugging THISSSSSSSS much!!!! Don't care if I'm leading, cleaning, jugging, I'm on the wall so I'm happy just being.

It's gotta be done on TR....unless you are a fearless stud at leading 5.10c runout climbs.

Thank you live Yosemite webcam....thanks to you I am sitting at work in LA yet able to look at this stunning weather as a storm envelops El Capitan while the sun still shines around Half Dome in the distance

His first weekend back in Josh in years and he can still redpoint the hard stuff like the kids do! Clean & Jerk is a classic line with a bouldery start that vexes many climbers...myself included.

The sky directly above was clear and cloudless. But the sky to the north had storm clouds swirling. The sun had just gone down so that Intersection Rock is now in the shade yet the sun was still lighting the ridge behind it.

Gotta love Joshua Tree. It can be beautiful clear skies right above the park yet you can look to the north and south and see the cloudbands of storms passing around it.

I stood in the meadow watching a fast moving spring storm move in. It enveloped the Captain so quickly. Which for a rock that size, was really something amazing to watch.

My friends and I were climbing on the routes to the left of this arete, and when I looked over at the climber on it the clouds were so white and puffy against the late afternoon golden glow on the rock that in person it looked like a painting.

He climbed up Pringles, the crack to the left then transitioned on to Gorilla Crack to finish the climb. October in Indian Creek is a perfect time.

As we were hiking out from climbing Elvis' Hammer, the sun went directly behind it. And thanks to a large offwidth there's a gap that goes all the way through the rock itself, and the sun hit it perfectly.

This is the route on the north face of Elvis' Hammer. Caught it in the late afternoon sunlight. Skip is about halfway up the route, ended up cruising it with ease (5.10+)

This was my first taste of Yosemite...literally Driving thru the tunnel late last March and seeing this view for the first time, my heart literally stopped for a second. This view took my breath away. No wonder the Valley is so easy to love.

I think his name was Bob, he was climbing Hardd (5.11b)while we were over on Outer Limits/Crack a Go-Go. And he was making it look easy.

After a rainy April afternoon, the sun broke through late in the afternoon and lit up El Cap, just before sunset. I stood in awe and stared at the rock for what seemed like an hour watching the light change. Yosemite is such a magical place.

I took this shot from the meadow as a storm moved in on an April afternoon this year. The clouds moved in quite fast, must have been quite a time to be on the upper pitches of one of El Cap's routes.

I paid an October visit to Ouray, headed up Camp Bird Mine Rd to soak in the fall colors in the late afternoon sun. This is about 2 miles up the road from the Ouray Ice Park area/Uncompaghre Gorge.

Joe got this shot right before sunset of me giving Skip a fireman's belay as he raps off Elvis' Hammer, a seldom climbed 5.11 sandstone tower above Moab. There are routes on both the north and south face. A true desert treasure.

A lovely Sunday in January, tank top weather in Joshua Tree, and I was climbing with a fractured left heel and could not have a care in the world. YeeHAAA!
