Approaches are different in Red Rocks

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Approaches are different in Red Rocks

Climbs4fun and mwbtle on the hike in to the Gallery. I was marvelling at the temperature and the mountains, neither of which we have in PA in november. I was also marvelling at the relative length of the approach. And the amount of scrambling necessary. I'm used to the Gunks. Photo by: cerikpete

mwbtle leading P3 of minty

Average Rating = 0.00/5 mwbtle leading P3 of minty

October, 2004: A dreaded butt shot of my 2nd ever trad lead: Pitch 3 of Minty (5.3) Note the overly well endowed rack, which I only used 4 pieces from. I went left instead of right, and ended up with a long runout. Photo taken by: Taino

Church Rocks, WV

Average Rating = 2.50/5 Church Rocks, WV

The crag we climbed at our second day in WV - Church Rocks. I like the scale of it, the crag compared to the people. The boys at the bottom are Fred (1269topper), Andrew (climbinganne's son), Eric (username unknown), and Erik (cerikpete).

cerikpete bouldering

Average Rating = 3.29/5 cerikpete bouldering

Erik thinking about the first move of a very short boulder problem. The rock was sharp, gritty, and slippery all at the same time. Neat trick. Elvislegs and Phillycheese are boldering in the background. They are MUCH better than we are. at Spruce Knob, near Seneca, WV

This is Erik (cerikpete) working his way up an offwidth that we were told was 5.6 or so. He discovered offwidth climbing is rough, so he laybacked it. At Church Rocks, WV

Andrew and West Virginia

Average Rating = 3.17/5 Andrew and West Virginia

I caught Andrew (son of climbinganne) in a rare moment of stillness, looking out from the top of Spruce Knob, in West Virginia. The dog is Griffith, rescued from Pilot Mt. earlier this year by climbinganne and pornstarr.

mwbtle bouldering at Spruce Knob

Average Rating = 3.00/5 mwbtle bouldering at Spruce Knob

This is me (mwbtle) boldering up at Spruce Knob. Its an easy juggy problem, really lowball, so since I'm short, the sit start actually made it a 3 move problem. With the crux actually being the two pockets of bone-chilling water you mantle in to top out. Note the strategic use of tongue biting that helped with the send. Photographer: Erik Peterson.
