Description:
Physical climbing on an exposed route make the NorthEast Buttress a classic adventure. Harder than the East Buttress of El Cap but much easier then Steck Salathe. Folks who don't appreciate a little wrassling on their route will not like this one. Wear Kneepads!

really clean but
A really physical route. Although I've done the crucifix a number of times, I'd never done this. A much easier route, but probably more physically demanding. Plus, we did the 5.10 variation and found it easier than some of the 5.8 or 9 sections. Typical for an old yosemite route. 7.5 hours in 95 degree heat.

Yeah
I got my azz handed to me on this one. You will not believe how sustained it is after the 1st traverse. Makes the E Butt of El Cap look like The Grack. A lot of nice crack climbing but it is steep and polished granite that requires that much more endurance.

physical and radical climbing pg13 and R at times
one of the harder routes i have done here in the valley
i was glad i brought a number 5 for the upper few pitches
loose rock and run outs, way above the last pitches
make sure u are versed on wide flaring stuff
lots of roofs and unorthodox body positioning
lots of slings are needed, double length 7 and single 5
minimum amount to bring
make sure that each person has a small pack
no big ones for this thing
we used a tag line to haul the packs up
make sure u bring a head lamp
i led the last chimney in the dark
i give it a pg13 and a R rating, not 5.9 but a 5.10
this route is not fun rather dangerous and burrrliiiiiieeeee

Stellar
Long day (13 hours). Pity the second carrying the pack up through the chimneys.
