Mega Classic 5 Star route. Pumpy, technical, and exposed. Follows the obvious arete to the left of the chimney. Formerly 5.11d. Route has been extended by 4 bolts. 60 m rope mandatory.

Finally sent it. Hard for the grade and on crappy rock in my opinion, the extension is much lower quality than the first 10 bolts. Would be better if the original anchors were still there for those that preferred them.

Crux is the new section at the top. 5 Stars.<p><p>My hardest send to date. I worked this route over several months last summer, but just wasn't strong enough to pull the crux move while pumped. I trained for it over the winter by increasing my bouldering level two V-grades.<p><p>
On Sunday 6/16/02 the training paid off. It was my 16th climb of the weekend, and my second attempt on Carpe of the day. I really didn't think I had the strength left to get the redpoint.
