Description:

This is a fanastic winter mountaineering route, and a good introduction to the high peaks in winter. The avalanche danger is usually very minimal because of the high winds that scour the Guanella Pass area. Snowshoes may be needed for the trail through the willows, but the ridge itself is often bare but maybe a little icy. After passing through the willows, climb the ridge directly to Bierstadt's summit - 3 miles and just under 3000 feet of gain.
While the climbing even in winter is easy, be prepared. It is a lot of work and it can be extremely cold here. Dress warmly, carry a map and compass, and take plenty of food and water.

This one was pretty dull... just a slog without any really sporty parts. Definitely one to skip.
