snow and shitty conditions

2:45 car to car, simulclimbing some pitches and belaying two pitches

Sweet

2 hrs headlamp solo house to house. Ice was snow-covered, or thin to non-existant.

This climb is where I taught myself how to climb ice, roped soloing. 5 years later, it's still a fun solo outing.

I soloed all but the last 30' of this late in the season. Then I got to the big pine tree, the last little bit wat melted, with 3' round holed in it. For some unknown reason, I was craving cheese!!! I was able to swindle a belay from Dennis Turnville. If he ever reads this, many thanks for sending me a cord. For those of you not entirely willing to risk life an limb, simply solo the first two pitches. then hike down about 50 yards east of the flow in deep snow.

Lead P1 of the Great White Icecicle. Ice was in good shape but showed some signs of previouse climbers. What a blast doing my first real lead on solid verticle ice. 12-21-05 update; lead P2 and 2nd P3, great fun.
