5 out of 5 stars Fun

The weather cooperated and the views were spectacular. Not as much loose rock as I expected. Can't wait to go back and lead it.

5 out of 5 stars Scary approach for me...

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only who thought the approach over the talus field was a bit challenging, psychologically. I luckily did not set off any rock slide action but was a bit scared to death!! But, I think I would do much better next time and know that some of the fear was illogical, though from one of the posts I see it was not completely unreasonable to be scared!! The climb itself I did fine on for the most part. I seconded and I did need a little lift at the pitch where you are exposed near the black dyke. But, I wasn't too scared. I love doing a route named after some awesome climbers from the late 1920's!!! Looking into the Black dyke where some of the small waterfall had just begun to freeze was one of my most memorable experiences ever!!

4 out of 5 stars First Trad Ever!

Totally awesome. I seconded the whole way behind Chad LaFlamme. 6 pitches in total. You could totally get vertigo looking down into the Black Dike from the 5th belay station. Crazy, but cool. Can't wait to get on more!

5 out of 5 stars Don't Miss This Climb

Fantastic route. Did the 5.9 variation on the last pitch which was one quick move.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic, watch the poorly set talus

Also recommend the 5.6 crack start, nice climbing on solid rock. Thought the pipe move lived up to its "psychological crux" designation.

I, my partner, and one of two climbers we met all flipped substantial rocks onto our feet and shins walking up the talus on the approach -- we should have settled for slogging up the safer small stuff where possible.

5 out of 5 stars holy sweet jesus,

was this a great route. first multi pitch climb. the approach nearly killed me though, set off some serious rock fall. the descent is pretty bad on the knees too. dont let this stop you though, its totally worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Whitney G

First Ascent on Cannon! Mike Goodhue led pitches 1 and 3, I led pitches 2 and 4 (including the pipe pitch move.) Started climbing at approx. 6:45 AM, finished the climb at 10:15!
Great alpine climbing, the cruxes for me were at the pipe, and about 50' from the top on an awkward face move. Best day of climbing this season!

4 out of 5 stars Good stuff

Lots of fun, follow the clean rock, pitons and chalk. Lots of loose rock, cool exposure, and a great view the entire way. It was 75 and sunny, but man we were cold with a cool draft/breeze all day. It's a little PG with the loose rock, but definitely managable.
