First weekend doing trad slab. This was the second day and I went on the sharp end. It is a good route that is not that bad. I don't do much sport climbing so it never felt so good to clip a bolt as on this route. I climbed the first two pitches getting used to slab and 25 ft. between pro. There is a good piton on the traverse of pitch 2. partner did the less well protected third pitch then we rapped down. I brought an old high school buddy just getting into climbing on this trip and it pushed him quite a bit. But, fun was had by all.

climbed this as a 3-pack - Eric led the 1st pitch. I followed and continued thru 2 bolts to the 2nd belay when it started raining lightly. By the time I brought Eric and Mike up to the belay, the entire mountain was wet. Amazingly, the rock was still grippy. I headed up and over (right) to the oasis and then waited for a TR from above (my buddies Pete and Justin had already finished their route - Grand Funk Railroad and were lowering) to cross the water streak, which, again amazingly, still had friction even with water flowing freely. After eventually topping this out on the final 2 pitches of Grand Funk in the rain, we decided (actually it was Eric's idea) to walk off/downclimb the SE slabs. We walked around the top and thru the woods on the upper slopes and I made a double rope rappel til I ran out of rope - then scrambled around to see a reasonble descent. We made it, though I wouldn't recommend it - 300 ft of down scrambling on wet slab. We named the downclimb - May the Schwartz be with You (Eric's last name -probably just 4th class, but intimidating nonetheless with nothing but a 200+ft sea of granite below you with water flowing down it)
