Pretty straight forward climb, lots of fun. Can tell why it is such a classic.

dodged the train on the trestle. I am sure we went up the easiest way and didn't even look at the rock finish. wool surplus army pants, flexible leather boots, flexible salewa crampons, and 70cm axe. ice climbing in the bad old days.

Great route, easy 1st pitch, 2nd was a nice, fat column with some good rests.

...Ass. Do the rock finish. Way more fun. Then set up a TR on Hobbits Couloir WI4+ to the right.

the upper column is nice

right side start to rock finish = great intro to modern mixed

Seconded the route with Don, the rock finish was a blast, the first mixe climb I've done. The exposure was amazing and the view was wonderful. Next time I'm lashing a camera to my harness !
