Ascent Notes for: 5.8 crack - 5.8 Average Rating : 3.33/5

I guess we were the first people to climb this route in a very long time. The crack was full of dirt, sand, moss and plants. It was also soaking wet from the morning rain so it was very slippery. Our shoes wouldn't stick either from the rain or the slug trails since the slugs were out in force. If you want to lead this route come on a dry day and be prepared to clean.

Great for learning good stopper placements b/c there are a lot of them on this route.

yeah, it's there . . . might as well do it. More like 5.7, maybe one 5.8 move where you actually have to rely on the crack . . . for about half a move, really. Depending on how dirty it is it might feel like 5.8, on a bad day. I dug out some sand to put in a tricam, up high . . . the rest was straightforward, I think I put in two other pieces: maybe #1 and #2. Lots of face features, though they're not that huge, really.

Dirty, but easy. Watch for giant Wolf spiders!

My friends first trad lead...perfect dihedral to start leading on, if it wasnt for a little dirt in the crack.

Really dirty!! I got lots of dirt in the face.

This was my firt Trad route to lead, and was super easy. If you want to learn Trad lead, this is a good one to start on.
