The bottom is slick from water and feet but the friction increases the higher you get.

Super Slick texture: Practice on Teflon pans mounted vertically at home before attempting this. Not a Yosemite 5.8. Perhaps after rains, quartzite absorbs moisture to slicken; don't know as yet, as this was my first climb here at Palisades. First hand jam suddenly slid 8 inches down then spit me out. After repeat slide-jams, floundered up without using cracks. Not a warm-up.

To bad the crux is at near the beginning of the route.

This is a great route. I think the posted rating is a little low. After you know the sequence it gets easier.

Good pull crack...I actually fell pretty quick here, and suprised my belayer...and me.

first 8 i ever done
the finger crack has some nice suprises if you dig deep enough
