This would be heads up for a 5.8 leader, but a really good route.

The book says rap off a tree, but there are now bolted rap rings.

For a 5.8, the gear is a bit thin/tricky/shallow for the first 10 meters or so, and that's the 5.8 part, so caution to the beginning leader. Then it's a walk.

I don't know what these kids are talking about, but the bottom of this climb is awesome. They are kinda technical, fun moves, but not hard with really good holds awaiting, and the gear is good if you know how to place tri-cams and cams in horizontals. And then maybe the top was a little too easy, but with that gorgeous view and a little bit of exposure, I'd run up this bad boy any day I happened to be at fern and it was open.

...pretty much right off the ground. I didn't get real good gear in for about 25ft. Interesting climb, I might give it one star, but I think the guidebook gives it more.

The cruxy bits mostly like horizontal friendly gear. Tri-cams are cool. Start requires a decent spot since your first real gear is kinda high after the real climbing begins. Nice movement with just enough decent holds to keep it interesting in the bottom section then a casual romp in the sunlight to the two bolt anchor (practice slinging some chickenheads while you're up there - it's fun!). Nice views up top. A bit of a hike in, but not bad, just don't lose track of where you are!

New guidebook gives it 3 stars but I might like it more if it was a bit more sustained/consistent for the whole route, but the top section is kinda fun too, just a LOT easier.
