Ascent Notes for: Cussin' Crack - 5.7 Average Rating : 3.22/5

Aptly named route. I said every cuss word imaginable on the way up. The traverse ledge at the top of the first pitch was wide, but figuring how to get up to the belay ledge was difficult. Pitch 2 was really hard - f'ing crack! About 1/3 of the way up, it started to rain and everything was so slippery. I had to haul myself up the rope in several spots to get to the top. Sad, there were some beautiful holds that became useless because of the water cascading down them. This is the first time I've been caught in a rainstorm and it felt like I was trying to swim up a stream just using my eyebrows.
Tim and I climbed this again on 8-28-05. I am too short to do the final move of pitch 1 to get to the belay ledge. I need about 6 more inches. Tim had to throw me a hand line.

My first climb at Castle Rock, I lead the first pitch, Tom the second. The first pitch was the psychological crux - slab runout at the beginning, then I did a variation by stepping across the top of the boulder and going straight up the face (instead going right up the big chossy ramp), felt pretty scary, 5.7ish, with not quite as much gear as you would like.

The second pitch was sweet - a greasy offwidth start which turned into pretty straightforward crack/face climbing at the end. Nice.
