Great lead for my first year... airy.

At the second-to-last bolt, we came upon an unwelcome surprise. My friend nearly pulled off a completely detached block 1 metre long, 30 cm wide, and about 10 cm thick. He kept it where it was and i went up to take a look. I pulled up all the rope, had people on the ground clear the area, screamed ROCK as loud as i could, and once confirming the cameras were rolling I Turned Her Loose. All it took was a light nudge with my foot, and down she went. Loud crashes and a huge plume of dust rose up from the slopes 25 metres below and blew into my face.

It was totally on route. this is why i thought it was safer to clean it than leave it. It was so precariously balanced there, it would have been an accident waiting to happen to let it stay there to have the next party come and unknowingly knock it off only to kill their belayer below. none of the route hardware was damaged in the removal.

It's a great route now! There is no more loose rock on the route. that must have fully detached recently though, because i was shocked that it hadn't already been cleaned...
