Intresting

Start off boulder 10 to 12 feet off ground and traverse to first bolt. Start is more intresting then the route. Good J-Tree face confidence builder.

First Trad Lead Fall!

Ironicaly this route (5.5) and Big Bird (5.7+)share the same start. I have followed many, many routes before I started leading and the roof move on this 5.5 goes much harder then 5.5. Your gear placements better be bomber because there is a good posiblity that you will test them on the beginning moves of this route. At least I got my first lead fall out of the way. The gear really does hold well when you place it right!

The rest of the route is a cake walk.

Stiff!

Lead a 9 route the weekend I did this climb, all in the 5.4 to 5.6 range and this route was harder then all of them. The first ascent of this route was in '76. Stiff old school grade? Yeh think! Try it you'll see what I mean. I recomend this as not being a good first trad lead, ecspeacialy if you stay right at the top.

Classic J-Tree Runout

Nice easy route with good gear until you reach the chimney and then no gear for the 15 to 20 foot runout to top. Bring a #4 C4 to protect traverse to chimney for your second.

The hard way up!

Ths route is pretty much the hard way up the approach to right ski track. Fun climb asks the leader to trust himself on short slab section after a #3 placement.
