4 out of 5 stars My first route at rumney-my gf's first lead

pretty sweet route- looks easy at first but the roof is a bit tricky. Well protected, with plenty of resting stances.

4 out of 5 stars Exciting lead

This one was pretty intense but there are great holds after the crux. Not a stiff grade but a really awesome lead.

4 out of 5 stars First Sport Lead Ever

Perhaps Summersville isnt the best place to begin ones sport climbing career, but it looked so dank, and with the lake right there, it beckoned to me. After a day of dangling off of the 3rd bolt on several 5.11s to get a good view of the hordes swarming the 3 routes at the lake below 5.10...I happened upon this one, saw the 5.9 in the book and I said to my girlfriend, ok, this is gonna be the one. The first bolt is placed precariously for those cheap bastards like myself with no stick-clip...So i sorta made one... I was committed to not abandoning that one draw, so against the wishes of my loved one I beat back the images of my Dad reminding me not to "be stupid out there" and flailed on. Im not sure what all it says about me that it took someone doubting the sanity of the climb to make me ultimately send it...but i did. I wont lie- the first two bolts are not easy climbing, but once you relax its not that bad. Being on an Arete always seems to heighten the exposure factor. I nearly soiled myself at one point for that very reason. After the first two bolts i came down, wiped properly, then sent. Shoulda been onsight, but what can I say. Im a weenie. Im giving it a pg13 because i feel that the first bolt should have been placed with more consideration given to the fact that the climb starts off on top of a sketchy rock pile...i could even see it if the hardest moves werent required to clip that one bolt. Thats my logic, and i stand by it.
