4 out of 5 stars Finally!

This route has taunted me for some time. Brought a couple friends to do Zig Zag for some multi-pitch Trad training and finally decided to do it.

4 out of 5 stars Multi-Pitch Trad Training

Time to do some multi-pitch trad training for 2 of my cohorts to gear up for a future trip to Leavenworth. One had never climbed real rock, the other is learning about trad climbing. PG-13 rating since the 2nd pitch can be a little scarce for pro.

3 out of 5 stars A Tough 5.7

A rather tough 5.7 I would say. Pretty sustained until one gets near the top.

Drew F. belayed me. It started raining a bit as he was climbing up.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome 5.9!

John G. belayed me up this outstanding 5.9, then I belayed him from the top.

Bring 2 ropes for the rappel, or use the rap station about 1/3 the way down.

I like this route a lot because it starts strong on a face, continues pretty strong into an overhang, has a nice roof to surmount, and then onto easy, but runout lumps towards the top.

The ledge at the base of this wall can be wet even though the wall is dry. Makes for difficult start--bring a pad or carpet!

This face can stay wet and slimy, making smearing on the slopers difficult. The 2005 guide is a little vague as to whether this route starts on the becnh and goes up the upper face to the anchors, or starts on at ground level and continues all the way up.

4 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

Actually, not a bad climb, though it obviously sees little use. It's fairly easy for most of the climb until you reach the crux on one of the upper faces. It's a bit of a problem-solving

Out on an unusually warm, sunny October Sunday on my birthday! This is not a bad climb, but the pro can be marginal. Bring lots of nuts, maybe a cam for a pocket about 1 - 1-1/2" wide.

0 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

This route isn't very sustained in difficulty, nor climbed much, and covered in lichen, and it's a long rappel, so its' certainly no favorite, but it's good for some trad practice as there are only 2 good bolts in 140', and finding trad-gear placement can be scarce in places. I ran it out above the 2nd bolt with just a cam about 15' above it and that was it until the top. The top is so easy it's not worth stopping to try to place pro.
