5 out of 5 stars Dave S. and Tim B

Nice weather in the shade. Dave led P1, and he was huffin' and puffin'. When I followed, I was huffin' and puffin' !! Harder than it looks. Next time I'm going to wear LONG PANTS! and maybe NO PACK. It was hard to get out of that large crack, but with a body jam, makes a nice rest "wedge". I needed the rest !

4 out of 5 stars Shoes and Fingertips

Typical JT face ... ground fall potential. We TR'ed this to keep it fun. There's not much at all for the hands, just smear and step up gingerly.

3 out of 5 stars Fun but strenuous

The crux move took me awhile to figure out, probably cuz I was a pussy and didn't want to hang on the razor-edge high-right reach-up. After I sucked it up, it was a left-reachy power pull kinda thing to get to the crack. We top-roped this, cuz a fall would be n-a-s-t-y ! The rock here is very crumbly, and I pulled a football-sized piece loose. Belayers need to wear helmets or move out of the way from rock rain. The pebbles make the route feel "slippery".

3 out of 5 stars Difficult (tight) fingers, polished feet for starters !

I was way off route, thinking this was some 5.7 start, and I'm a 5.9 lead. This tight finger crack ate 2 of my 1/2-inch cams, as the triggers were buried, and they were overcammed (mea culpa) 12 ft up. I spent an hr. trying to get them out. It is a VERY slippery start, not much of anything for your feet, kinda smooth and polished rock. Long arms help to get up to the final reach to get 20 ft. off the deck. I hangdogged some gear to get up it. Not best of show for me ...

0 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

We did P1 of Wong Climb (5.8) totally sustained 120' vertical secure hand crack. P2 was a real humper (OW). I had to downclimb and ditch my pack, as I was on lead. During P3, it rained, and Dave slipped off the roof, fell backwards, hit is head, good thing he wore is helmet (always). Fun climb that was a lot of work. I'm definitely going to repeat this one, since P2 was not pretty. I'll get out of the offwidth crack next time, right at the diagonal chockstone.

Tough start, grabbing a little nubby. I went wide left, so maybe I was off route, but who knows !

Great fun, had to stem the crux of P5 start, right off belay. Great exposure, good views, I'd do it again !

Stretched the rope on every pitch, belayed when we had 4 pieces left, or no rope. What a blast ! Lotsa cracks to exploit.
