Ascent Note
Each pitch is only 30-40 feet. p1: greased. Just one good fist jam is all you need. It's one of the last places to get wet when it starts to rain, so keep it in mind on the cloudy days.
p2: You're supposed to climb the open book, but I climbed the Sickle Crack (which only goes at 5.7)
p3: Flared Chimney. I was kissing the rock up to my ears, reaching for the lip with face-and-butt counterpressure. I'm still waiting for a phone call ...
p4: Undercling left to the fatty hand jams. Exposed. Stupendous.
p5: You could be done, or run up to the top of the slab on the GNS standard route.

Ascent Note
Steep, uninteresting climbing.
Doesn't make a great first lead because of the steepness.

Ascent Note
Everyone raves about this route. I finally went and did it, and I wasn't very impressed. It was OK. It was worth doing... but it was far from a "Classic". It's a very common first Alpine multipitch rock climb, which might explain why many think so highly of this route.

I did the hand traverse ... I think I'll have to go back and try it with the feet.

Why did someone bolt this fine trad route? Oh well, still good stuff. Nice stems for the steep part if you look behind you.

The only 5.9 is at the anchors (where there's a bolt) The trad portion was closer to 5.7-5.8.

We started way to late, just made it down the decent trail before dark. If we'd known how bad the descent would be, we would have gotten an earlier start.
