Came back for round two and slew the dragon (!). Crux is not so strong, but maybe confusing and once or twice committing. Exciting, demanding 15 feet after the early easy (5.6) stuff.

3 out of 5 stars Not my first lead.

I started up this as my first lead. 6 feet above my first piece it popped out and fell to the ground. Looking at a 20 foot fall (climb starts on a ledge that's higher than base) I lost my nerve and downclimbed. Ha. Happy Birthday.

Seconded the pitch instead.

A good intro to the rock at Chatfield Hollow. Very grippy. This is a fun, short corner with plenty of stemming and huge holds to layback on and swing through.

I ended up mantling the top. Certainly nothing to yank on up there. Crux felt trickier than it looked.

5.7/5.8 all the way to the last 10 feet or so. Strong full-on laybacking. I slipped off two moves shy of the top.

Yeah, I pretty much backstepped and pulled my way up the chimney section, which made it harder. Oh well.

I led the first pitch but I'm calling this a second. It was my first lead but since I led the really easy part I'd rather not count it.
