3 out of 5 stars Cool New Route in Cool Temps

The temps at Echo Cliffs in early October have been wonderful. We have climbed this route several times since it was put up and everyone seems to like the line and the positive, well protected moves. The rock on the 2nd pitch is excellent with numerous incut positive edges and unique pockets. The rock on the 1st pitch is typical of Echo Cliffs, but has been thoroughly cleaned and should clean up nicely with more ascents.

4 out of 5 stars No Potty Humor

"Potty Trained" is a fun, thin slab. Thin smearing and edging on "potato chips" past 4 bolts. The 4th bolt appears to have been the sport anchor, but now consists of one bolt with chain and a hole. There is another anchor 10 ft higher consisting of two widely spaced bolts that are not equipped for lowering/rappelling. There is an easy walk-off.

4 out of 5 stars New Multi-pitch

Fun and interesting climbing on positive edges and pockets. The steep bulge at the start of the 2nd pitch gets your attention, but is well protected. Nice exposure, good featured rock, although still a loose, but then all new Echo Cliffs routes are. P1 seems 5.7 and P2 a 5.9

3 out of 5 stars Never The Same Twice

Excellent climb. Finally, pulled "Lowrider" clean. Super fun, pumpy moves that make the climb feel more like a long boulder problem than a sport route. "Lowrider" is never the same climb from one ascent to the next, as the face is always shedding a flake, knob, or edge. This area is always in transition even after a decade of ascents. "Lowrider" deserves 4 or 5 stars, but the rating is more like 5.10d, not 5.10a!

4 out of 5 stars Destined to be Good

Charlie Hustle is a nice addition to Easy Street, especially since this area can get crowded on busy weekends. A long moderate route, well protected and on interesting rock, although it remains a bit "crunchy" until it has received a few ascents. Excellent location and views of the canyon.

4 out of 5 stars Pumpy

Nice, easy face and slab to powerful pockets. The roof moves are powerful and sequential, but well protected. Great route, but short.

5 out of 5 stars No Mystery Why It Gets 5 Stars

Wow, "Espresso" is a nice long pumpfest. We had perfect temperatures and there was no one else at the Java Wall.

4 out of 5 stars Fun in the Grotto

What a sweet route! Left of Superfly, steep, pumpy, and sequential at the top.
Nice that much of the route is in the shade and not too hot.

4 out of 5 stars Grotto climbs

2nd ascent. Mystic River is fun, the moves are interesting and the protection is stellar. Nice exposure on good, well featured rock. An outstanding addition to the Grotto.

4 out of 5 stars Game Boy

As many have commented, it seems that Game Boy should have a 5.9 rating while Miss Pacman seems more like a 5.8. At least that's how the ratings feel to me. Nice routes. There was a large Western Diamondback rattlesnake sunning itself near the base of Miss Pacman for most of the afternoon.
