As a Californian, I was surprised at the nice climbing. There are some nice climbs, trees, a river, and a spiffy, really cold cave. But, this is not one of the nice climbs. Even at the grade, it is pretty unmemorable.

Harder than it looked. A very nice climb. (Thanks to Dan and the other locals for the beta)

For some reason, I had a terrible time with my feet on this one. I'd place my feet and they'd skip.

My wife isn't much of a climber, but decided multi-pitch would be a nice way to spend my BDay. It was a little warm, but the bugs weren't too bad and we had the entire rock to ourselves. This route clearly does not see much traffic.

My wife isn't much of a climber, but decided multi-pitch would be a nice way to spend my BDay. It was a little warm, but the bugs weren't too bad and we had the entire rock to ourselves. I had never climbed the Trough. It is actually pretty nice. Easy climbing, but nice exposure and comfortable ledges. If you have two ropes you might consider skipping the class 4 finish (it's pretty unmemorable) and bailing from the pine ledge to the bolts at the top of p1 of Dave's...

I have actually climbed the first pitch and rapped off several times. It is clearly the most memorable part of the climb. I had always thought that the pitch was a little harder than 5.7, but I found out I had been going off route. Instead of doing a layback all the way to the tree, you escape to the left near the top, then traverse back to keep it 5.7. Definately a classic.

I had never climbed this early classic. Tracy and I decided to make an early run in April and got snowed off (It had been so sunny when we started we both wished we had worn shorts!) It actually started hailing and it was hard to build rappel anchors with nuts because the p2 crack was filling so fast with snow. We left quite a few slings and nuts, and I don't like getting my but kicked, so I went back a few weeks later and took another run. No snow, but the gear was long gone. I ended up going up the crack near the fixed pin, instead of literally climbing the 'real' horn. I'm not sure if that cheats the grade or not.

Ascent Note
I've only climbed this route twice over the years. This time, my biggest problem was that the rock was COLD. I ended up doing a lot of delicate stemming instead of straight jamming.
The second pitch is fun, though be delicate if you step on the little tree to get into the crack. The cam mentioned in the description was there at the beginning of April when I got snowed off of Traitor Horn. (I left a couple nuts at the tiny ledge shortly into the second pitch that day, but they made it onto someone's rack.)
